Imagine eating edible dirt, grass with other bits of other grains, plants, nuts and seeds. I probably haven’t sold you on the concept however some how these little treats of super whole food nourishment taste like delicious (I know hard to believe) chocolatey earth.
I have been loving my last batch with a cup of chi tea. They are full of rich nutrition and have been loved by both those with a sweet tooth and those who prefer their savory.
This recipe was created when I got a bit off track finalising a recipe testing for my upcoming book, ‘The Holistic Health Guide’. When you fail at something, embrace the process of learning and create something even better, aka a healthy recipe treat to share with everyone while your waiting on the book.
Would love to hear how you would describe the taste of these earthly bites!
Recipe:
1 1/2 cups almond meal
1 cup quinoa flakes or organic oats (preferably steel cut oats)
1/2 cup tahini
1/2 cup cocao
1 banana
1 large handful of baby spinach leaves
1/2 cup mesquite powder or maca powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup raw honey
If your using oats grind them in a blender or food processor.
Process or blend on high speed the banana and spinach together.
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and add a splash of water if needed to achieve a thick, moist mixture. Place the mixture in a lined baking tray in the freezer for at least 15 minutes. Take out and slice in desired bite size pieces.
Store in a stealer container in either the fridge or freezer. Storing it in the fridge will create a fudge type texture while the freezer will produce chewy more solid bites.
Enjoy your bites of earthy goodness!
